Timepass and me

Posted by: joshisagar on: July 18, 2008

I know I need to get organized and at the same time I know that I have this uncanny knack of wasting time doing nothing. “Nothing” seems to occupy lot of my time. Since the age of computers has begun, we find people staring at laptop screens for hours, doing nothing. Many people including me spend time browsing many news websites for latest news items. Since cricket has become a 365 day affair, every day I also need to visit cricinfo.com to gather latest scores. My latest hobby of dabbling in the share market has also contributed to my nothing-time (NT). Few NT minutes of my every day go into looking at some meager stocks that I own. Some NT goes into browsing pubmed for some articles. Another NT catagory is looking for softwares and open source codes and other cool stuff that keeps on piling on the world wide web.

In last 27 years of life, I have figured out many different ways in which time can be spent in a completely useless manner. Time, the most precious thing we have, is wasted and I feel ashamed everyday that I wasted another day. Edison may have found 100 ways in which a bulb cannot work, I have found out 1000s (countless) ways to spend time (or rather waste).

Someone said very correctly - Days are long, but years are short.

No one realises how fast time flies; In a twist in time, in a fraction of a second - You can gather many things that we waste by engaging in timepass.
